Vic High has the distinction of being the oldest high school west of Winnipeg and north of San Francisco. It dates to 1876, when it opened in a log building on the grounds of what is now Central Middle School.

Vintage Woodworks is proud to have designed and created the new replica windows for Vic High. Our very own Ken Coley-Donahue – a Vic High alumni – has stepped up for the Archives and Museum by donating the labour to make seven custom shelf units for the new space.

“With less square footage than before,” says Archives Manager Annie Boldt, “we needed to maximize the storage and needed some really sturdy new shelf units.”

The Vintage team used 3/4″ birch plywood, and ensured the wide, unsupported spans could hold the necessary weight of the acid-free boxes that hold the Archives collections.

The main school building was built in 1914, with additions in 1955 and 2011.

Dating back to 1888, the ‘little yellow house’ on Hornby Street has been moved and refurbished as a reminder of old Yaletown.

Our Vintage Woodworks team had the privilege of restoring the window sash, storm windows, a number of original window units, door units, and mouldings on this beautiful Vancouver heritage building.
